MOTHERING NATURE:

Neri Oxman and Material Ecology
2023 / EXHIBITION IDENTITY

Speculative design of retrospective for Neri Oxman, an Israeli-American designer and architect known for her sculptures and biomaterials that incorporate nature as a collaborator into imagining and constructing for the future. Oxman’s work is often built on a relationship where humans provide the structure and nature fills in the gaps, like vines on a trellis or silkworms on mesh.

This dynamic is reflected in the identity’s display typeface, which intertwines Antipol VF (the wireframe) with Honey (the organism). The nurturing quality of Oxman’s work is reflected in the warm color palette, and the dynamic, energetic quality of the type creates a sense of spectacle that speaks to the scale of Oxman’s work but also draws viewers in to investigate the twisting forms.

Final deliverables: Branding solution, two logotypes, custom typeface, color palette, title wall, posters, and merchandise (honey jar, waffle maker).
